He was great. And on many of his biggest hits, he had a pretty good partner. Carole King was not only his wife, but continued to write with him for a while after they divorced.

In another time and place I went to the Troubadour in LA to see James Taylor (when he was Sweet Baby James and still had hair). The opening act, with a new album just out, was Carole King. I sat near Leon Russell and spent a lot of time staring at his hair. Ah memories. :)
